Extremely sorry on the delay in reply. Yes you can surf out the front. Most surfers go just to left of Black rock. Nice little breaks nothing extreme. Swimming is a bit iffy. you would need to be an experienced swimmer. we do have patrolled beaches located North and South of the park.
Wondering if the the big 4 park is within walking distance to any restaurants or licenced venues. Also are there any fishing areas or areas for kayaks close by

His renae unfortunately we don't have any restaurants within walking distance but the rsl has a bus that will come down anytime we ring to pick you up. The leagues club just up the road does fabulous Chinese and are happy to deliver as is Pizza Hut. We won't see you go hungry . Fishing on the beach is great but you would be best to take the kids kayaking in the river which is about 2.5 km away. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquires
