The East of England refers to the Eastern part of England and is one of the nine official regions of England in the United Kingdom. Additionally it makes up a part of both the Southern England and Midlands grouping respectively but also serves as the area of land between Southern England and The Midlands, making it a separate area of England in its own right. The East of England includes the ceremonial counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, of which Essex has the highest population. The northern part of the region, namely consisting of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, is popularly known as East Anglia.
