Just to add that the grounds are not extensive and the castle, gardens and grounds are compact.I wish I had an old photo of how it was in the past to compare .(my grandfather was a young gamekeeper there pre world war 1 ....his father head coachman)I don't know if it is the original size or if areas of the estate were sold off over the years .,but very managable nowadays for a few hours stroll.
Q:
Is there any play equipment here for children such as a playground of any sort?
A:
I didn’t see any play equipment because we didn’t have time to explore the grounds. However there is an extensive area of woods and lawns which provides space to play in.
Q:
What's on tomorrow
A:
There are no special events just the exhibitions in the building. Check the website.
Q:
Where do you buy the tickets for fishing please?
A:
Sorry I answered the wrong question! I believe you get fishing permits from the Casle reception.
Q:
Do you have to pay just to sit in the grounds?
A:
No, you don't have to. There's a box on your way into the grounds asking for a donation so I just put £1 in there as I spent a short time there.
