Liverpool have run out of time to sign Florian Wirtz during the first summer transfer window but the Reds remain close to sealing a deal for the Bayer Leverkusen star

Liverpool have already announced a deal worth almost £30m to sign Wirtz’s Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, so a deal for the German could take their spending to around £150m this summer. They are also interested in left-back Milos Kerkez, with Bournemouth valuing the Hungary international at £45m.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl says Bayern Munich wouldn't have been able to afford what Liverpool are offering Bayer Leverkusen to sign Florian Wirtz. The Reds have had three bids rejected for the 22-year-old in recent weeks, the latest of which was worth up to £113m.
