Oklahoma moved up, but not by a lot, while Alabama and Texas took dramatic falls in the College Football Playoff rankings.

There's a new team in the top four of the College Football Playoff Rankings. After a big win against Texas in Week 12, Georgia joined the list of projected first-round byes at No. 4 in Tuesday night's CFP bracket.

Alabama (8-2, 6-1 SEC) won eight games in a row prior to facing Oklahoma and was the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff rankings going into that matchup. Following the defeat, the Crimson Tide dropped by six places to No. 10, behind two other 8-2 teams: the Sooners and Notre Dame.

The latest College Football Playoff rankings were not good news for James Madison, which likely does not have path to field without major help.

A pair of top-tier SEC matchups created a new No. 4 team in the nation. Alabama vacated that spot amid a 23-21 home loss to Oklahoma with Georgia sliding into first-round bye position after dominating Texas, 35-10. The Sooners now sit No. 8, two spots ahead of the Crimson Tide.

Alabama had a chance to cruise into a first-round College Football Playoff bye if it had beaten Oklahoma on Saturday. Instead, the Crimson Tide lost its first home game since the 2023 season 23-21.
