Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said team officials deliberated between Booker and another prospect in the first round throughout Thursday. That player was still available with the No. 12 pick. According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen was the prospect in question.

Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer said this about Booker: "I'm not just excited about the player. I'm extremely excited about the person."

Booker is a player who fills a need for the Cowboys and was high on their draft board. He was mainly a left guard in college but said moving to the right side won’t be a problem. If you want to say this is a safe pick, that would be fair, but in a lot of ways this is the correct pick for a team that seeks upgrades to their offensive line.
