Wicked star Marissa Bode has condemned social media users who have made her and her character’s disability the butt of the joke. The 24-year-old actor stars as Nessarose, the spoiled younger sister of Elphaba (played by Cynthia Erivo ).

Marissa Bode is speaking out against ableist comments about her "Wicked" character. The actress, who plays Nessarose in the blockbuster film based on the Broadway musical, said in a TikTok video she is uncomfortable with jokes that have been made online about the character's disability.

Bode said she was not OK with “aggressive comments and jokes about Nessa’s disability,” calling the messages “deeply uncomfortable because disability is not fictional.”
