Tributes to Pope Francis pour in from around the world with Vatican set to published details of funeral and conclave

Bay Area leaders joined Catholics around world in mourning the death of Pope Francis, who is being remembered for his groundbreaking papacy.

The funeral of the late Pope Francis will take place in St. Peter's Square on Saturday morning with his body lying in state for three days in the run-up to the mass, the Vatican said Tuesday.

Faithful followers and world leaders will attend the funeral for Pope Francis in Vatican City on Saturday. Francis, 88, died on Monday after suffering a stroke and cardiac arrest, the Vatican said, ending a reign in which he repeatedly clashed with traditionalists and championed the poor and marginalized.

Trump praised the pope at the start of Francis's papacy, in 2013. But relations soured during the 2016 election, when Francis criticized Trump's proposal to build a wall on the U.S.-Canada border.
