A cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district has killed at least four people and left six others injured, just days after a similar disaster in Kishtwar claimed more than 60 lives.

Chositi, located about 90 kilometres from Kishtwar town, was among the worst-hit areas in the cloudburst disaster. A community kitchen crowded with devotees took the direct impact, as flash floods triggered by the cloudburst swept away multiple structures.

Several houses were buried under rubble and floodwaters in the Ghati area, officials said. Damage was also reported on the Jammu–Pathankot National Highway. Rescue teams are at the spot.

More than 32 hours after a devastating cloudburst struck Chosoti village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, over 100 people — mostly Machail Mata Yatra pilgrims — remain missing.

Subash Chander, a devotee on the Machail Mata Yatra, said he was trapped under debris for nearly six hours after a massive cloudburst struck Chashoti village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday,

The incident took place during the Machail Mata pilgrimage, for which Chositi is the last area where yatris can park their vehicles before resuming their journey on foot.
