Mumbai: The political drama surrounding Maharashtra’s leadership took an abrupt turn on Monday night with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reacting adversely to the buzz that he would have to vacate his position for Devendra Fadnavis.

As per reports, Devendra Fadnavis is likely to return as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, with Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as his deputies. Shinde, who had been negotiating to retain his position as the Chief Minister, is likely to settle for the Deputy CM role along with Pawar, The Indian Express reported.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on Tuesday said that Eknath Shinde is likely to resign after the current assembly term ends today. He said that Shinde will be asked to continue as the caretaker CM of Maharashtra till the new CM takes oath.
