Indian Mahindra and Mahindra on Tuesday said it is in talks to resolve a dispute with the country's biggest airline IndiGo which has filed a court challenge against the use of its call sign "6e" in the automaker's new electric vehicle offering.

Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited launched the first of their electric origin vehicles on November 26 in the form of BE 6e and XEV 9e.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Tuesday said the name of its new battery electric vehicle, BE 6e, is not in conflict with IndiGo’s ‘6E’ call sign and that the automaker is engaged in discussions with the airline to find an "amicable" solution.

IndiGo has sued Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited for trademark infringement over the use of '6E' in Mahindra's upcoming car model BE 6E, set for release in February 2025. The case is pending before the Delhi High Court.

IndiGo's lawsuit claims that Mahindra Electric's use of '6E' in its upcoming BE 6E electric car could cause consumer confusion and dilute IndiGo's brand identity.

InterGlobe Aviation, which operates IndiGo airlines, took Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited to Delhi High Court for using ‘6E’ in its new car called Mahindra BE 6e , which is expected to be released in February 2025, reported Bar and Bench on December 3. The case will come up for hearing on December 9, said the report.

IndiGo is seeking relief from the Intellectual Property division of the Delhi High Court regarding this trademark dispute

IndiGo has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Mahindra Electric for using '6E' in its upcoming electric car, Mahindra BE 6E, set to launch in February 2025. The Delhi High Court will hear the case soon.
