Mark Pope is a man of the people. As usual, Kentucky fans stuck around to hear from their head coach after the Wildcats’ 105-76 win over Georgia State on Friday evening. Normally, Pope will stay after he concludes his radio appearance on the court to sign autographs into the wee hours of the night.

Kentucky coach Mark Pope had to run onto the Rupp Arena court to separate players after an altercation during Friday’s game.

Even though it contained some “saltiness,” Kentucky’s 105-76 win over Georgia State took the Cats to 7-0, their best start since the 2016-17 season. Mark Pope was pleased about the win and the way his team banded together after Clash Peters’ flagrant and technical foul for a cheap shot on Amari Williams with 12:37 to go.

Georgia State kept things close early in the second half, but UK jumped to a huge lead after an on-court altercation with the Panthers.

Even before the season started, former Kentucky All-American Jack Givens knew that Mark Pope was the perfect hire for UK.

If you’re a Kentucky Wildcats fan, you’ve likely heard the name Jack “Goose” Givens due to his legendary collegiate career, including leading Kentucky to a National Championship in 1978 and also winning Final Four MVP.

Mark Pope hosted his first weekly radio show as the Kentucky basketball coach on Monday night. He was joined by some special guests.
