A brand new image snapped by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) reveals the intricate details of the core of the distant "Sombrero Galaxy". This galaxy, officially known as Messier 104 (M104), is situated some 30 million light-years from our planet.

A new mid-infrared image from the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope features the Sombrero galaxy, also known as Messier 104 (M104). The signature, glowing core seen in visible-light images does not shine,

"We were looking for the bed of the ice and out pops Camp Century," NASA cryospheric scientist Alex Gardner said.

Camp Century, a Cold War-era military base built in 1959, was recently rediscovered buried beneath Greenland's ice sheet.
