Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has formally requested a presidential emergency declaration on the March 28-30 ice storm.

As crews work through storm damage in state parks, forests and trails a clearer picture is forming on how hundreds of downed trees may affect Northern Michigan’s summer recreation. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources updated its closure page and released a list of five state forest campgrounds they expect will have a delayed opening.

Great Lakes Energy and Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-Op are continuing to work to restore power to most of their members in Northern Michigan after a severe ice storm.
