Ride-hailing app Uber has launched its first water transport service in India, with a booking of a shikara at Dal Lake in Srinagar through its app, a senior company official said on Monday.

According to Reuters, Uber now offers boat-hailing services on Dal Lake, located in the Kashmir region in India. These wooden Shikara boats are decorated with bright colors and have seemingly comfortable pillows to let tourists enjoy a scenic boat ride.

Srinagar: Kashmir's iconic Dal Lake now has a more convenient way to explore it. The cab service company Uber has launched India's first water transport service: Uber Shikara. The app will allow users to book shikara rides through their digital platform.

Tourists can book a Shikara 12 hours before the ride, up to 15 days in advance. They can be booked from Shikara Ghat 16 for an hour, and can accommodate up to four passengers.
