DEHRADUN: The recent devastating deluge in Uttarakhand's Dharali village, which caused widespread destruction, may not have been triggered by a cloudburst, according to meteorological data and scientific experts.

Five deaths are confirmed, and 59 people are missing. 274 tourists were rescued. Special forces, medical teams, and equipment are deployed, with focus on restoring communication and clearing debris.

On August 5, a cloudburst in the upper reaches of Harsil led to a massive flash flood, reminiscent of the 2013 Kedarnath disaster. The deluge washed away parts of the Gangotri Highway and devastated the Army's lower camp in Harsil.
