To mark one week since a deadly midair collision between an American Airlines jet and a military Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport, a large crowd gathered in Alexandria’s Rivergate City to remember the 67 people killed in the tragedy.

Exactly one week after the lights of firetrucks and police cars lit up the night sky along the banks of the Potomac River, candles illuminated the night sky.

Several of the victims were part of the U.S. Figure Skating team. Their deaths hit close to home for members of the ice-skating community nationwide. A little outside Charlotte, in Indian Trail, a moment of silence was held for the ice-skating victims.

The name of every U.S. Figure Skating member on board Flight 5342 was read aloud during a vigil held at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum.
