While bus service has resumed after a judge ordered an end to the VTA strike, light rail service remained on hold Monday following reported metal thefts and other issues.

The orange line may potentially return to service Monday afternoon, while the blue and green lines will take more time before resuming, the VTA said on social media. Bus service resumed Friday and was met with the gratitude of riders who were left without their normal transportation routes for more than two weeks.

About 1,500 members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265 returned to work Thursday to prepare for the resumption of bus service, the agency said. Light rail service could begin as early as Monday, but it is expected to take a “little longer to resume” than buses as workers inspect the tracks and overhead lines of the 42 miles of the system.
