Anodising is a method of finishing aluminium and its alloys, to a good quality, consistent finish. The process starts by creating a cathode, out of lead plates. The product itself, acts as the anode.

I bought an Ultra Aluminus case. I have an anodizing setup in storage. The inside is full of unfinished bare aluminum that personally, needs a bit of finishing IMO. However, it is riveted in place.
