A woman was killed in a shooting in Old North Sacramento on Tuesday, and a man later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Shari Sirkin of Stratford, who was killed in a head-on car crash in Oxford on Jan. 8, was a "true original" and a devoted mother, her obituary said.

Police said the motorist was transported by ambulance to Milford Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
