The Powerball jackpot soared to an estimated $1.25 billion for next drawing, the multi-state lottery association said Tuesday.

A $1.1 billion Powerball jackpot could provide someone with plenty of spending money just 10 days before Christmas. The total would be the sixth-largest jackpot in the game's history, and the 12th-largest in U.S. lotto history including Mega Millions. The drawing will be just before 11 p.m. ET on Monday.

Two Powerball tickets worth $200,000 and one worth $50,000 were purchased in New Jersey for Monday night’s lottery drawing. The $200,000 tickets were both sold in Parsippany, Morris County. One was purchased at a Wawa on New Road and the other at the Shell gas station on Route 46 east, lottery officials said.
Power Play: For an added $1 per play, you can win $2 million by matching five white balls or increase non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X. If the jackpot is $150 million or lower, a 10X multiplier is included. Select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball.
