Thunderstorms are expected across much of Southeast Texas as a cold front approaches the region Friday. As of 3 p.m., a few scattered thunderstorms have developed in Harris, Montgomery and Liberty counties.
Showers and thunderstorms have increased this afternoon and evening, with a few storms potentially becoming strong to severe.
A major shift in the weather pattern late this week will upend Houston temperatures, resurrecting a longer winter chill for January.

Houston weather: Strong storms possible on Friday
A strong weather system arrives Friday and Friday night, bringing the best chance for showers and thunderstorms so far this year. Some storms could be briefly heavy, and strong winds are possible as the cold front moves through with an isolated strong storm possible ahead of the front midday and Friday afternoon.
