The first flight chartered by the UK government to bring back Britons stranded in the Middle East by the US-Israeli war against Iran did not take off from Oman on Wednesday. The plane, which was due to depart Muscat at 7pm on Wednesday,

The government says the flight from Oman is now expected to depart sometime on Thursday and that "multiple" flights will follow.

A passenger who was due to travel on the flight, but wished to remain anonymous, said that people had "panic attacks" while on the flight that never took off.
