Amid ongoing deliberations over the next Maharashtra Chief Minister, outgoing CM Eknath Shinde's son, Shrikant Shinde, has clarified that he is not in contention for the Deputy Chief Minister post and has no intentions of accepting a Union Minister role either.

BJP plans to announce Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra's new Chief Minister soon. As political negotiations continue, Shinde Sena demands Deputy CM and Home Ministry positions. The final decision rests with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amid continued suspense over who will succeed Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, a senior BJP leader on Sunday night said that the name of Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised. The claim was made by a senior party leader while speaking to news agency PTI.

The new govt of Maharashtra is yet to be sworn in more than a week after the BJP-led NDA, also known as Mahayuti, clinched a landslide victory in state polls.

Amid speculation that his son Shrikant Shinde might get the deputy CM's post and Shiv Sena is keen on the Home portfolio, Eknath Shinde said the Mahayuti allies- BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena- will decide the government formation through consensus after sitting together.

"The name of Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised as the new chief minister of Maharashtra. The meeting to elect the new BJP legislature party meeting will be held on either December 2 or 3," a senior BJP leader told PTI.
