A new date has been ‘pencilled in’ for the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. The original fixture was postponed last Saturday lunchtime due to Storm Darragh. Both clubs are thought to be in talks with the police, Premier League and broadcasters regarding the fixture, according to the Mirror.

Liverpool then have midweek games scheduled throughout January, while Everton’s FA Cup tie against Peterborough also takes up a midweek slot early in the month. Liverpool would also have a game in the first week of February if they progress to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool was postponed on Saturday because of Storm Darragh, which brought dangerous winds and rain to the west coast.

The revised date places the derby amidst a packed schedule for Liverpool. It falls just days after the FA Cup fourth round (8-9 February) and before a Premier League encounter at Anfield against Wolves on 16 February. Arne Slot’s side, sitting five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, also has European commitments looming.
