Senate Republicans took a major step to advance President Donald Trump’s sweeping agenda early Friday morning, voting to adopt a budget blueprint that sets up a clash with House Republicans, who have put forward a competing plan.

The Senate will proceed with its own plan, Majority Leader John Thune said, continuing to cast doubt on the House's ability to pass Trump's agenda in one big bill.

After an overnight "vote-a-rama," Senate Republicans advanced its budget blueprint, but a gulf remains between House and Senate Republicans.
