As Sony’s pursuit of Kadokawa rumbles on, financial experts have said the PlayStation maker may find it hard to buy the entirety of FromSoftware’s parent company. Japan’s Toyo Keizai (via Automaton) reported that Sony may be put off the deal due to the cost of having to acquire all of Kadokawa, rather than the parts it’s actually interested in.

Sony Group Corporation is in talks to acquire fellow Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa, according to media reports that emerged this week. The firm's animation and games properties may underlie the possible M&A activity.

Sony may acquire Kadokawa, giving them full control of the anime production system. If the deal goes through, Kadokawa's goal is to produce 40 anime titles per year by 2023.

Kadokawa Corporation has confirmed it has received a buyout offer from Sony, but insists it has yet to make a decision on whether to sell up.

Kadokawa has confirmed that Sony has offered to buy them, but there’s a catch. As reported by Gematsu, the conglomerate has offered a statement with an official English translation. Their statement said this:
