A round of winter weather arrives tonight with an Alberta Clipper system moving into the area. Snow will begin in the mountains around 6 p.m., and snow showers will extend all the way to the coast after 8 p.

Snow will bring a slick morning commute to Maine on Thursday, with very cold and blustery conditions expected to end the week.

The storm is expected to reach its height between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. and could bring 3 to 6 inches of snow to inland areas of the state.

It is December in Maine, and you may know what it means for Mainers, another snow system is on the way. With winter in full swing, Maine's Total Weather is tracking an Impact Weather day for snow that moves in overnight on Wednesday and will lead to a messy morning commute on Thursday morning.

By noontime, look for heavy rain in southern NH and beginning in southern Maine. Heavy snow is moving into the foothills of western Maine where temperatures are closer to that freezing mark. A defined rain-snow line will build and set-up on the west side of the I-95 corridor. Between 1PM and 8PM will be our worst travel times.
