The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest American car around the famed Nurburgring race track. Mustang GTD fans have been reeling since Chevy announced its top models both toppled Ford's 7-minute-52-second lap time around the 12.
Ford CEO Says “Game On,” Mustang GTD Going Back to Nurburgring
On Thursday, Chevrolet came out swinging and announced the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X both beat the Ford Mustang GTD’s Nürburgring lap time. It took less than two hours for Ford CEO Jim Farley to respond, “Congrats to the Corvette team. Game on,” he said.
It could mark the return of the GT500 name on the S650-generation Mustang platform.
