Here’s a number: the Utah Hockey Club is now 25 games into its first season. With that in mind, and after some yo-yo performances recently, it’s worth taking stock of what’s going on at the Delta Center on the ice.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Casey DeSmith made 34 saves for the Dallas Stars, who held on to defeat the Utah Hockey Club 2-1 at Delta Center on Monday. It was DeSmith's first win since Oct. 24.

MONTREAL (AP) — Mikhail Sergachev scored the overtime winner as the Utah Hockey Club beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 on Tuesday night. Sergachev tapped in a pass from Nick Schmaltz with 27 seconds left in the extra period to end the game. Jack McBain and Dylan Guenther also scored for Utah. Karel Vejmelka made 11 saves.

Nick Schmaltz’s search for his first goal of the season lasted so long and felt so cruel at times that even its ending came with a little extra torment. The play was offside, Utah Hockey Club coach André Tourigny fibbed to his player as he celebrated last weekend in Las Vegas.
