Bangladesh arrested Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das on specific charges, sparking protests and international concern. India voiced "deep concern" over the arrest and denial of bail, urging Bangladesh to ensure minority safety.

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Tuesday took strong exception to the arrest of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das by Bangladeshi authorities, saying that it is not going to do any good to them or for the country's image.

Refuting allegations of misconduct or bias, Bangladesh said that officials have stepped up security to ensure that religious harmony is maintained.
