Louisville will play Washington in the 91st Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, marking significant appearances for both teams.

Louisville football will face Washington in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve in El Paso, Texas. For the Cards, this marks the fourth straight year Louisville will play in a bowl game. Last year, Louisville lost to USC in the Holiday Bowl (42-28), another former Pac-12 team that transitioned to the Big Ten this season.

In his first season at the helm, head coach Jedd Fisch leads “U-Dub” to a bowl berth. A 6-6 record, enough to earn the Huskies an invitation to the “Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl”.

Fisch could be disappointed at Washington, and perhaps internally he is, but on the outside, he's made it clear that he absolutely sees value for his team in playing in the Sun Bowl — or any non-CFP bowl game for that matter.

The 90th playing of the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl brings together two teams, Louisville and Washington, who aren't familiar with each other and, for the most part, aren't familiar with El Paso. This will be Washington's fifth appearance in the Sun Bowl but their first since 2002.

"It's a very active time without question," Louisville coach Jeff Brohm said on a Zoom call to discuss the Sun Bowl. "You're trying to maintain your roster, trying to deal with the open portal situation and make some additions based on subtractions that are already happening through graduation and guys moving on. It makes it busy.
