The Be Bold initiative will be based in New York City. The goal is to teach children ages 8-10 about the basics of ballet and offer other tutoring.

In 1990, Gonzalez opened a dance company and started teaching children the basics of Folklorico dancing. Almost thirty years later, he and his co-founder Romero, teach over 100 students.

The children also learned how to do a plie; King Louis XIV, who established ballet as a formal art form; and various other ballet basics. "The main thing is for kids to have fun," Carlson said.
