MENTOR, Ohio — Two local races in Mentor remain too close to call nearly a week after Election Day. Both Lake County races have razor-thin margins that demonstrate how every vote matters in local elections.

Voters in Georgia State Senate District 35 — spanning parts of Fulton, Douglas, and Cobb counties — voted in a special election. Democrats Jaha Howard and Roger Bruce are headed to a runoff next month.

RCV didn’t cause any particular candidate to win or lose, Jeanne Massey writes. What it did do was ensure that the mayors elected in Minneapolis and St. Paul are the candidates who could build the broadest support across the electorate.
