Google announced that it was doing away with a separate upcharge for its Gemini AI features in Workspace and forcing you to pay for it instead whether you want AI or not. Today, Microsoft is following suit,

The changes are part of an effort on the companies’ part to boost the adoption of their AI tools among business users. Microsoft ships an AI assistant called Copilot as part of its Microsoft 365 productivity suite. Google, in turn, offers the Gemini machine learning feature bundle to users of its rival Workspace suite.

Previously, AI tools in the Gemini Business plan were a $20 per seat add-on to existing Workspace accounts, which had a base cost of $12 per seat without. Now, the AI tools are included for all Workspace users, but the per-seat base price is increasing from $12 to $14.
