A federal judge on Monday granted special counsel Jack Smith's request to drop all felony charges against President-elect Donald Trump in connection to his role in seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

A U.S. District Court judge dismissed the federal election subversion case against President-elect Donald Trump Monday, after Special Counsel Jack Smith moved to dismiss it earlier in the day.

Special counsel Jack Smith on Monday said that he is dropping his election subversion case against President-elect Donald Trump. Smith filed a motion to drop all four felony charges against Trump in connection with his efforts to overturn his 2020 presidential election and his alleged role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
