NEW YORK (AP) — Disgraced former U.S. Rep. George Santos “remains unrepentant” as he faces years in federal prison for fraud and identity theft, federal prosecutors say, citing a tirade of his social media posts in recent days.

Disgraced ex-congressman George Santos could receive 7 years in prison after pleading guilty to federal fraud charges. Prosecutors allege he stole from donors and misused campaign funds.

"Put plainly, Santos is not genuinely remorseful, despite accepting responsibility as part of his allocution," federal prosecutors wrote in court papers.
