Australia's dreams of a historic Grand Slam triumph 40 years in the making have been shattered at the hands of Scotland magician Finn Russell and his side's defensive tenacity.

Australia’s bid for its first rugby Grand Slam in 40 years is over. The Wallabies lost 27-13 to Scotland on Sunday to end their hopes of a sweep of victories in the season-closing tour of Britain and Ireland.

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu, who grew up in Melbourne, scored a try and was outstanding in a dominant performance from the home side in Edinburgh, who shut down the prolific try-scoring potency of the Wallabies and ran up a score late against the tiring visitors.
