A fast-moving wildfire on the Greek island of Crete has forced the evacuation of thousands of tourists, residents, and hotel guests. This is as a result of intense winds and extreme heat continue to fuel the inferno.

Wildfires are burning close to homes in the Greek capital of Athens and on the island of Crete, fanned by strong winds and dry conditions. It comes as much of Europe swelters through another day of unseasonably warm conditions. Scientists say climate change is causing heatwaves to begin earlier in Europe, worsening fire seasons.
