In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul opened the batting for India in the first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.

Rohit Sharma will be missing the first Test between India and Australia at Perth but is expected to join the team in the city on 24 November, midway through the match and after the birth of his second child.

India will look forward to in the India vs Australia Prime Minister's XI pink ball practice match in Canberra before the Adelaide day-night Test.

This is considered a much-needed practice for Team India, which last played a day-night game against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru in March 2022.
