The NJ Transit strike is over after the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) approved a deal Sunday, but train service will not resume until Tuesday.The engineers strike halted trains across New Jersey for three days,

The union, known as BLET, was seeking pay comparable to the wages made by engineers at other nearby railroads, including Long Island Rail Road. NJ Transit, which has long had shaky finances, was trying to avoid blowing a hole in its own budget.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and NJ Transit President Kris Kolluri announced a tentative agreement to end the three-day rail strike. Trains will resume running on their regular schedules on Tuesday, said NJ Transit’s president and CEO.
