Ukraine's stretched defenses in Donetsk have been creaking since early this year under a fierce Russian drive to capture its neighbor's entire eastern Donbas region.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has visited the Pokrovsk front and examined the combat situation before issuing suitable instructions to improve the stability of the defence and destroy the Russian forces more effectively.

During the attack, Ukrainian forces killed 15 Russian troops, according to the 425th Separate Assault Battalion "Skala." The battalion reported that its troops dispersed a large group of advancing Russian forces while sappers destroyed a key logistical route.
