Bears general manager Ryan Poles said Monday there was no choice but to fire coach Matt Eberflus after repeated late-game mistakes that led the team to a disappointing 4-8 record.

The Chicago Bears did something they've never done in their history before: they fired a head coach midseason. To be fair, Matt Eberflus really left them no choice after a brutal six-game losing streak where half of those losses were a result of poor coaching.

Ryan Poles isn’t going anywhere. Bears president Kevin Warren confirmed Monday that the team’s current general manager “will remain the general manager” and spearhead the upcoming head coaching search following Friday’s firing of Matt Eberflus.
