UCLA came into the Trump administration’s crosshairs after the university agreed last week to a $6.5 million settlement in a lawsuit with Jewish students and a professor, who alleged that the university did not do enough to protect them from harassment and discrimination by pro-Palestinian protesters last year.

The Trump administration has frozen more than $300 million in National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and other federal agency-funded research at UCLA, citing allegations the school discriminates in admissions and has failed to protect the civil rights of Jewish students.

UCLA called the decision "a loss for Americans across the nation whose work, health, and future depend on the groundbreaking work we do."
