It's gone as poorly as one could've imagined for Devin Williams in his first 12.2 innings in a New York Yankees jersey. After the Yankees made a blockbuster deal to acquire him during the offseason, the hope was for Williams to come in and continue to be one of the top relievers in Major League Baseball.

Yankees reliever Devin Williams screamed, pumped his arms and bounced off the hill in animated fashion after getting San Diego’s Xander Bogarts to chase a 3-2 changeup.

After the Yankees designated him for assignment Tuesday, Carlos Carrasco cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. That keeps some important starting depth in the organization, even with Carrasco having struggled to a 5.91 ERA in 32 innings.
