AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta mayor race now has three candidates as another person has announced their candidacy. Eric Gaines, who’s on the charter review committee and is a local real estate investor, announced on Sunday that he is running for mayor on Sunday.
About 60 people gathered at the Augusta County Courthouse to protest against ICE and the president. The protest was held in the wake of the killing of Renee Nicole Good. Attendees expressed anger and fear over the current political climate and the actions of ICE.
Augusta Utilities will temporarily drain the canal waterway beginning Sunday to allow crews safe access to canal structures and the Raw Water Pump Station. Maintenance will also include routine cleaning and maintenance at the pumping station, as well as tree and debris removal necessary to provide access for equipment and personnel.
