ISKCON temples and communities around the world held special kirtans on Sunday to pray for the protection of their followers and members of other religious minorities in Bangladesh. At the Radha Gopinath temple, Girgaon Chowpatty, around 1,500 devotees gathered for special prayers.

ISKCON followers held prayers and 'kirtan' at its Albert Road centre in Kolkata to highlight the plight of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, where they are suffering atrocities.

ISKCON's mass prayers in hundreds of temples come in the backdrop of unconfirmed reports of the arrest of three more ISKCON priests, days after the arrest of spiritual leader Chinmay Das.

A day after the second Hindu monk, Shyam Das Prabhu, was arrested in Bangladesh, two other disciples of arrested spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das have also gone missing in Chattogram, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Saturday.

New Delhi expressed concern over the monk's arrest and denial of bail and asked Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities. India on Friday said the interim government in Bangladesh must live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities as it expressed serious concern over the "surge" of extremist rhetoric and increasing incidents of violence against Hindus as well as attacks on temples.
