Red Bull “desperately” hopes that star driver Max Verstappen doesn’t pick up another F1 penalty point over the course of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, which would earn him a one-race ban from the series.

The FIA hit the Red Bull star and four-time world champion with a 10-second penalty in the race, followed by three penalty points on his super license. That means Verstappen enters the Canadian Grand Prix with 11 points total on his super license in total. F1's rules dictate 12 penalty points in a 12-month period trigger a one-race suspension.

Red Bull spoke to Formula One's governing body before the Canadian Grand Prix to warn them that Max Verstappen's rivals might try and lure the Dutch driver into a one-race ban, according to team boss Christian Horner.
